Akwa Ibom State scheme of Service for Master, Mistress & Technical Instructors Cadre
ENTRY QUALIFICATION (MASTERS/MISTRESS 1)
By direct appointment of a candidate possessing any of the following qualifications e.g:
- B.Ed in relevant discipline
- B.Sc (ED) or B.A (ED) in relevant discipline
- B.Sc or B.A with teaching qualifications such as PGDE, NCE
ENTRY LEVEL:
Entry level for the above, will be from Grade Level 08
PROMOTION
- All promotions are subject to satisfactory service records and maturity on the post
- A teacher must serve on salary Grade level 16 or a minimum of two(2) years before being eligible for appointment as deputy principal General.
- Before a teacher is promoted to the rank of principal General on salary grade level 17, he/she must pass the Special Class Compulsory Examinations.
ENTRY QUALIFICATION (TECHNICAL INSTRUCTOR CADRE)
- By direct appointment of a candidate possessing the higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognised institution plus a teaching qualification cognate experience.B.Ed in relevant discipline
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in relevant subjects form a recognised institution plus a teaching qualification such as NTTC, NCE or PGDE.
ENTRY LEVEL:
Entry level for the above, will be from salary Grade Level 08
PROMOTION
- All promotions are subject to maturity and satisfactory service records.
- Technical instructors already in service without teaching qualification are not promotable beyond salary Grade level 10; those already on salary grade level 12 are to stagnate.
- All technical instructors should be trained regularly to update their practical skills in relevant areas.
DISCIPLINE
Akwa Ibom State Public Service rules are applied in terms of discipline to any misconduct or serious misconduct committed by an officer. The public service rules act as guidelines for appointments, promotions and discipline in Civil Service Commission Circular No. 1/2000. If any officer commits an offence such as immoral behaviour, unruly behaviour, habitual lateness to work, negligence, insubordination, sleeping on duty to mention but a few, which can be investigated and proved. It can also lead to termination or retirement. It’s called misconduct (PSR No-040301).
In case of serious misconduct (PSR No-040401) such as falsification of records, absence from duty without leave or permission, bribery, corruption, embezzlement, misappropriation, sabotage, divided loyalty, sexual harassment, violation of oath of secrecy to mention but a few, if investigated and proven, may lead to dismissal.
